Cloverdale brings in Christmas spirit this Friday
If it hasn’t begun to already, it will certainly begin to look and feel a lot like Christmas in Cloverdale this weekend with holiday events slated through next weekend.
Putnam County’s second-largest community will spring into the holiday spirit this Friday with this year’s theme reflecting a “Small Town Christmas.”
The festivities will get under way at 5 p.m. with free carriage rides beginning from the Family Medical Center of Cloverdale, located on Market Street. The Holiday Light Contest, a new addition, will also brighten up downtown, with crafts, cookies and caroling rounding out the revelry.
The fun will continue this Saturday afternoon with the annual Christmas Parade beginning at 1 p.m., with the lineup forming at noon. Afterward, youngsters and their parents can follow Santa and Mrs. Claus to the Ice House, located across from the Cloverdale fire station, for free pictures.
Christmas in Cloverdale is presented and hosted by Cloverdale Main Street, which hopes that there will be something festive for everyone.
“The holidays are indeed holly and jolly, but in Cloverdale, they are anything but normal,” Cloverdale Main Street wrote in a statement. “As the temperatures and snow have already fallen, let us get into the spirit with holiday events, unique shopping and plenty of fun to share with your loved ones.”
The Big Man will stick around, as he will make an appearance at Hurst-Collins American Legion Post 281 for Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 14. Donuts will be served at 9 a.m., with crafts and free pictures with Santa also available.
