County sends three forestry teams to state

Eighteen Putnam County students traveled to Area Forestry competition on Nov. 19, and fared very well.

Three teams will be advancing to the state contest later this month.

Below are their placings as individuals and teams: 

Junior Team Placings 

First – South Putnam Emerald Ash Borers: Students Caroline Hodge, Alie Newby, Keaton Chew, Naomi Sunderman -- advancing to state.

Second – Putnam County Foliage Feeding Insects: Students Les Brown, Audrey Richardson, Landon Chew, Gunner Roach -– advancing to state.

Junior Individual Placings (440 points possible)

First  – Caroline Hodge, South Putnam (420 points).

Second – Keaton Chew, South Putnam (399 points).

Third – Alie Newby, South Putnam (382 points).

Also participating were Naomi Sunderman, Les Brown, Audrey Richardson, Landon Chew, Gunner Roach, Lane Price and Stone Stauch. 

Senior Team Placings

Second – South Putnam Weevils - Students: Madie Newby, Megan Arnold, Brodie Carr, Haylee Romalia  -- advancing to state.

Senior Individual Placings (800 points possible)

Fourth – Madie Newby, South Putnam (690 points)

Fifth – Megan Arnold, South Putnam (679 points).

Also participating were Jacob Beadles, Selena Kuhlman, Daniel Gorham and Ryan Deaton.
