BAINBRIDGE — Both men and women’s North Putnam swim teams dominated in the pool Tuesday night against West Vigo and Owen Valley.

Besides the two breaststroke events, the men’s medley relay and diving, the Cougars won all events of the evening.

“Although we didn’t see a ton of time drops Tuesday night, the kids had consistent swims after a grueling workout on Monday,” North coach JulieAnn Elmore said. “I’m fairly certain each swimmer would tell you they are exhausted and I am very happy about that as we prepare for our county meet next weekend.”

The Cougars did get personal record times from sophomore Grace Kinkead and senior Taylor Hensley continue to drop times in the 50 Free, and Hensley had more than a 2.5-second drop in her 100 Free. Sophomore Justin Thomas also dropped more than half a second in his 50 Free.

“We had him mostly swimming distance as a freshman and the move to sprinting this year fits him very well” Elmore said. “Freshman Levi Gill also had a great drop in the 50, while Carter Thomas had his first high school win in the 100 Fly with a new PR.”

Other time drops were junior Dagan Everman in the 100 Free, sophomore Seth Thompson (by almost four seconds faster in the 100 Back than he swam at the sectional last year) and freshman Ethan Harrison in the 100 Breast.

Elmore also noted that sophomore Cody Perkins had his first-ever swim meet.

“He posted a 50 Free time that made me do a little dance on deck,” Elmore said. “He has a ton of potential. As a first-year head coach, I couldn’t be more excited about our team.”
