Ramps open doors.

SAWs (Servants at Work), the mission of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church that provides handicap ramps and steps to the financially challenged in Putnam County, completed the 2019 build season on Saturday, Dec. 7.

SAWs completed 20 projects, providing improved home access to residents of Putnam County and bringing the total built in 11 years of service to 196.

SAWs is always looking for clients that need help. Most years, the volunteers find more than they can handle.

For this reason potential clients are encouraged to call as soon as possible for help in 2020. Anyone who needs help accessing his or her home, or anyone who knows such a person, is asked to contact SAWs at 653-5713 or email the church at churchoffice@cinergymetro.net. Saws can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/SAWSGreencastle.

Qualified requesters can receive a ramp or low-rise steps at no cost from SAWs.

As SAWs completes its 11th year of providing help for the handicapped in Putnam County, organizers would like to thank everyone who has supported the mission by volunteering to work or giving monetary donations. A special thanks goes to Headley Hardware, the Greencastle Eagles FOE #4388, the Rotary Club of Greencastle, the WILL Center, Sherwood Christian Church, Greencastle Presbyterian Church, Greencastle Christian Church and all the citizens and business organizations that have supported SAWs in 2019.

Support from the members of the community in the form of continued donations, and the help of volunteers to build ramps is crucial to the future success of SAWs. For this reason SAWs is again asking for continued community support in 2020.
