Cloverdale students selected to play with the IBA All-District Honor Band
The Indiana Bandmasters Association (IBA) sponsored the All-District Honor Band on Nov. 23 and 24, involving students from many schools from across Central and Southwest Indiana.
Jacob Metzger, Adam Stattner and Eric Stattner were selected from Cloverdale to perform with the All-District Honor Band.
This year, Northview High School in Brazil hosted the IBA Central Southwest All-District band. The All-District band is open to ninth- through 12th-grade band members. The honor band provides an opportunity for students to be recognized for their talents.
The process for All-District selection begins at each local school, where the musicians apply to participate. Those applications and their director’s recommendation — based on musical skill, effort, attitude and sight-reading ability—are considered when a selection committee sets the group roster. Students who have the honor of participating in the ensemble receive a letter of congratulations and music to practice prior to the event.
The entire concert is rehearsed and performed in just two days, which requires the students to perfect their individual parts before coming together as a full ensemble. Directors from many of the schools involved helped with preparation on that day by rehearsing students in sectionals.
The weekend culminated with a concert performance by the group on that Sunday afternoon.
