CLOVERDALE — With countless volunteer hours and a devotion to the betterment of the Cloverdale community to his credit, Mike Price is the 2019 Cloverdale Civic Award winner.

The Cloverdale Lion Club recently presented Price with the 24th-annual award.

Nominations for the award come from the general public.

In honor of the volunteer hours he devotes to the betterment of the Cloverdale Community, Mike Price accepts the 24th-annual Cloverdale Civic Award from Civic Award Committee Chairman Jenna Lanham recently.

Price is the owner/operator of Retired Military Nursery. As the name of his business implies, first and foremost, he has served the community by serving our country in the military.

In the past, Price has been responsible for providing, planting, and caring for the flowers in the pots lining Main Street in Cloverdale.

He also adds to the beauty of the town at Christmas. Countless hours are spent by Price and his elves setting up a very large, walk-through display that he provides to the public for free during several weekends in December.

Additionally, during many Christmas seasons Price used his bucket truck to decorate the town Christmas tree and hang greenery.

Price said he is proud of his community and believes in “keeping things local” for the betterment of Cloverdale.

He may be retired from the military, but Price stays active contributing to the list of “positives” for Cloverdale.

No matter the season, Price is hard at work contributing to the town.

Price joins previous Civic Award recipients Lisa Baker, Larry Haltom, Kay Gedert, Lita Sandy, Donna Fidler, Dewey Garrett, Todd Lewis, Kerry Shepherd, Joyce Johnson, Mona Smith, Bob Hostetter, Don Walton, Jeff Rich, Rosemary (Davis) Berry, Jack Davis, Dr. Keith Ernst, Eric Hayman, Vera Hughes, Adeline Knoy, Bill Henson, Judy Whitaker, Rod Garrett, Norv Gottula and Wayne Sutherlin.

Price was presented a plaque by Jenna Lanham, chairman of the Cloverdale Community Civic Award Committee, and his name has been inscribed on a plaque that is displayed in the Cloverdale Town Hall.
