County reports no DUI arrests, crashes for New Year’s celebrations

Putnam County had no driving under the influence arrests or related vehicle crashes related to the New Year’s holiday, Sheriff Scott Stockton reported.

The sheriff noted that he was happy to make the report and pleased with the decisions people made throughout the county.

“This is a direct result of people using good judgment and common sense,” Stockton said.

The Greencastle cab service A Cab reported making 40 transports throughout the night for people seeking a safer alternative for getting home.

Meanwhile, the Putnamville Indiana State Police post reported arresting three impaired drivers as a result of New Year’s Eve patrols throughout its six-county district.

Two of these arrests took place in Vigo County, with one additional in Sullivan County.

The only recent local DUI arrest came when a Brazil man was booked in the Putnam County Jail at 2:06 p.m. on Tuesday, well before New Year’s celebrations could reasonably be expected to begin.
