Charles Ray Gilley, 90, of Greencastle, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020 surrounded by family.

Born Nov. 20, 1929 in Jonesville, Va., he was the son of Wentz and Ora (Glass) Gilley.

He was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Charles was a veteran, having served in the United States Army and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He retired from IBM in 1987, where he had worked for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church.

Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty J. (Rumley) Gilley; children Marvin Gilley, Kevin Gilley, Steven (Heather) Gilley, and Brenda (Darrin) Wells; a brother, Bob (Kay) Gilley; grandchildren, Kevin Gilley, JR, Shelby (Max) Lowe, Averi Gilley, Grace Gilley, Eli Gilley, Trevor Moore and Seth Coning; and great-grandchildren Dylan Gilley, Easton Lowe, Kai Coning, Addison Coning and Bryer Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred and Bill Gilley, and a sister, Margaret Alexander.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with military honors will following at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. on Saturday until time of service at the funeral home.
