Harold Eugene Dockery

Harold Eugene Dockery, 85, of Roachdale, went to his Heavenly home surrounded by his family on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1934 in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Harold F. and Lucille (Lee) Dockery.

On Feb. 20, 1952 in Paragould, Arkansas, he married the love of his life for more than 67 years, Shirley Lou (Allen) Dockery. She survives.

Harold worked at IBM in Greencastle for 33 years, where he retired in 1987.

He also fulfilled his calling to ministry pastoring for 37 years. First at Dana First Church of the Nazarene in 1961, and then in Annapolis, Roachdale, Greencastle, Lebanon, Boonville and lastly in Cloverdale.

In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, fishing, kidding around with everyone, working on computers of any kind and lastly his CB radio, where he was known as “Skipper.”

He was a member of Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dockery of Roachdale; four children, Vickie (Larry) Brown of Simpsonville, S.C., Rebecca (Richard) Dildine of Monrovia, Michelle (Steve) Hahn of West Lafayette and Michael (Lisa) Dockery of Cartersburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents; siblings Wanda Hall, Lowell and Larry Dockery; and foster parents Ward and Carrie Hicks.

Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday Jan. 9 at Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, 117 E. State Road 234, Ladoga, with Pastor Mark Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until time of service on Thursday at the church.
