Raymond Edward McGaughey

On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, Raymond Edward “Ray” McGaughey heard Jesus say, “Well done, good and faithful servant” as he ran through the gates of Heaven.

For 71 years, Ray has been an example of unfailing love, passionate devotion to Jesus and a dedicated family man.

Ray graduated from Russellville High School.

He retired from RR Donnelley after 38 years, then moved to Lake Alfred, Fla. in 2006.

Ray became a licensed pastor in 2011. Ray served in local missions as well as doing mission work on three continents. He helped plant three churches, prepared multiple mission teams and worked in international missionaries stateside. Recently, he developed a care ministry and was preparing church leaders to better serve the congregation.

Those who knew Ray will remember him as a driven, hardworking man who sacrificially provided and protected his loved ones. At work, he relentlessly pursued excellence, as if he was serving Jesus Himself. He consistently demonstrated integrity and servant leadership with his life.

Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda; his children, Rob (Robyn) McGaughey, Dawna (Daniel) Lanthorne and Kathy Feliz; his grandchildren, Kassandra (Mitchell) Montgomery, Judah Grooms, Jasmine McGaughey, Cade McGaughey and Josiah Feliz; 14 siblings, Nancy McGaughey, Patty (Dan) Butler, Ted (Vonda) McGaughey, Deanna Carrington, Dan (Betty) McGaughey, Loretta Patterson, Jim (Candy) McGaughey, Lynette (Kevin) Hedgepath, Rita Wacker, Jerry (Page) McGaughey, Dave (Tammy) McGaughey, Mike (Holle) McGaughey, Doug (Julie) McGaughey and Cary (Jen) McGaughey.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Clay and Eleanor McGaughey; his sister, Joan Goff, and a brother-in-law, Kevin Carrington.

Services will be held at Russellville Community Church on Saturday, Jan. 25. Visitation will be at noon and a celebration of life service at 1 p.m.
