Circles looking for new participants

Tuesday, January 28, 2020

It can be tiresome and overwhelming trying to put food on the table or pay the bills. Sometimes it is impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel as you struggle to survive and keep your family safe and healthy. You see opportunities around you, but you are never sure if they are the right ones or how to take the right step for fear of tipping the teetering scale the wrong direction.

If this sounds familiar, Circles of Putnam County could be the answer.

For those receiving assitance like SNAP, Medicaid or other benefits or those who are under-resourced, making just enough not to qualify for assistance but still struggling, Circles can be the guiding light they need.

Participants will attend a free 12-week learning experience and gain tools to help on the journey from 6-8 p.m. each Thursday at Gobin United Methodist Church in Greencastle. There is no religious education involved.

Families and individuals are welcome. Free dinner and childcare are provided.

Circles participants will also meet community members who can offer valuable resources and guide them to opportunities.

After the 12 weeks, participants will be paired with allies who check in with them, support them and help them on the path from simply surviving to fully thriving. Circles brings participants into a safe community with the opportunity to continue coming each week as often as they like.

They will be listened to and their views can be part of conversations that empower others.

Anyone who would like to attend one of the weekly gatherings and enjoy good food or sign up for the group may contact Lori Miller at653-6049.

Orientation for the new season is Feb. 6, with the group starting on Feb. 13.
