Kelly Series talk Wednesday night at DePauw to feature author Karen Fowler

Author Karen Joy Fowler will give a craft talk at 4 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 5 in Watson Forum, located in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media at DePauw University.

Fowler is the author of six novels and three short story collections. Her debut novel, “Sarah Canary,” won the Commonwealth Medal for best first novel by a Californian.

Her novel, “The Jane Austen Book Club,” was on the New York Times Bestseller list for 13 weeks.

She has won the World Fantasy Award twice, and her most recent novel, “We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves,” won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction in 2014.

The Kelly Writers Series is sponsored by the DePauw University English Department.

Fowler is this year’s Mary Rogers Field and Marion Field-McKenna Distinguished University Professor of Creative Writing at DePauw.

The event is free and open to the public.
