City Police

Clarification: Jacqueline Jo Shepherd, 36, Greencastle, was listed in the Jan. 25 Putnam Scanner, was not ultimately charged with a crime.

Although arrested, Shepherd was not formally charged thanks to Indiana’s Stand Your Ground law, as she was in her own home, told the other person to leave and felt threatened.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 10:13 p.m. on Thursday, Brandy L. Grayson, 39, Brazil, was southbound on U.S. 231 just south of U.S. 40 in a 2009 Honda Civic.

Grayson told Deputy Robert Soilleux she had missed her turn on U.S. 40 and was attempting to turn around, but missed the driveway, crashing into a ditch and causing front end damage.

Grayson was cited for driving without financial responsibility.

A rear-seat passenger, 17-year-old Milton Lewis of Brazil, hit his head and complained of pain. He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The car was towed. Soilleux estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to one recent dispatch:

• At 7:39 p.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to 1156 Avenue D for a smoke scare. Units arrived at 7:44 and monitored the residence, but found no trace of smoke or a fire. GFD went back into service at 8:11 p.m.
