Marisa Firestone delivers dinner to guests who had already ordered at the kiosks. With its reopening, McDonald’s is planning fundraiser days for local non-profits, Phil the Need, Feb. 6-8; Beyond Homeless, Feb. 13-15; and the Humane Society of Putnam County shelter, Feb. 20-22. McDonald’s will donate 15 percent of the days’ sales at the kiosks to those groups.

  • Never have liked the kiosks. McDonalds is just eliminating employees and wasting my time at the kiosk.

Who can enter my order faster? Can I enter my order as fast at the kiosk once a week with changes versus an employee who enters hundreds on orders every day?

And then I have to wait for my order to be brought to me?

Sorry McDonalds, you are really screwing up with this "Wave of the Future"!

In the future, I will order all my items at the drive-in and dine in "sitting in my car in the parking lot".

  • I won't do it- I don't work for McDonalds-tear them out of there-won't work just like the self check out not going over good at Walmart and Kroger-if they don't want to check me out I will leave with my stuff and go elsewhere.

  • Last Fall my family was at the McDonald's in Spencer and they had one person on the order register and of course they had the Kiosks. There were several people who tried to use the Kiosks and either they were down or they just didn't work. I'm not a fan!!

LoL - don't worry. They have a plan to "nudge" you into using the kiosks.

They have already started this in their Plainfield store... use the kiosk or wait at the register until the cashier is done doing everything else they can possibly do to not help you before they come and take your order.

Use the kiosk or be inconvenienced.

Gone from "customer service" to "customers serve us".

  • Wal-Mart, Kroger and now McDonalds....it’s an offering of convenience. Use it or don’t. Aren’t choices a great thing?

  • I've always wondered how often public kiosk screens are cleaned and disinfected. Personally, I try to avoid public touch screens, especially during flu season. Yuck!

    Chattycat -

Well, there is "how often they are SUPPOSED to be cleaned" and then there is "how often they are ACTUALLY cleaned".

    And therein lies the problem...

  • Kiosk is great for the ones who want to use them but some of us older customer still prepare one on one at counter. As far as cleaning those Kiosk? To have them "germless" you would have to ripe them down every time someone used it and we know that won't happen! I don't plan on having to carrying gloves to order my meal.

  • Dread: I read the article, totally gross. Hope they supply anti-bacterial wipes for the touchscreens. So what if it was just cleaned 10 minutes ago, a lot can happen in those 10 minutes. And they'll still screw up your orders.

  • I'll stick with the drive up window!

  • Worried about the germs on the kiosk? The handle to the entrance door (to any public establishment) should worry you more.
