Republic making plans for return of recycling toters
The City of Greencastle is continuing to work with Republic Services to improve local recycling efforts including the return of recycling toters, Mayor Bill Dory announced.
Republic reports that the recycling loads are of good quality with very little contamination.
If your recycling toter was not emptied in the last couple of weeks, it may contain some contamination or materials that can no longer be recycled. Residents are asked to remove any materials that cannot be recycled.
Republic has established a customer service number of 812-298-2122 exclusively for Greencastle. The number may be used in the event that a trash or recycling pick-up was missed or to have a damaged toter replaced.
If your recycling toter was removed by Republic during past few weeks, call 812-298-2122 to make arrangements for your toter to be returned.
Residents are asked to continue to follow the Trash and Recycling Guidelines that can be found on the city’s website – www.greencastle.com – under the “RESOURCES” option of the menu bar.
The city is printing the materials for a mailing to all trash and recycling customers that will include information on recycling, updates on acceptable recycling materials, and examples of unacceptable materials.
Residents are advised to watch for further announcements through local media and social media.
