REELSVILLE — A young Brazil man is likely to face a heavy fine after an Indiana State Police trooper clocked him traveling nearly twice the speed limit.

Kobe Morlan, 18, was eastbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 800 West Tuesday afternoon, when Master Trooper Don Farris stopped him for traveling 109 mph in a 55 mph zone.

ISP reports that Morlan told Farris he was running late for work.

Morlan was cited and released for reckless driving.

  • Thank you Master Trooper Farris for stopping this speeder west of Reelsville on US 40.

Recently, east of the US 40, 231 intersection to Mt. Meridian, other drivers have been using this area for drag racing at high rates of speed.

  • When a driver is driving so reckless at such a speed I think they should make a trip to the jail and the car should be impounded. To let them receive a ticket and then continue on their way seems silly.

  • He should not have been released and ticketed. He should have had his car impounded and his license revoked.
