Rev. Samuel Freeman

Rev. Samuel Freeman, Greencastle, went peacefully at home with the love of his life, his wife of 49 years, Connie Dickey Freeman, to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sam leaves behind four sons, Sam Freeman III of Athens, W.Va., Ray (Angie) Freeman of Evansville, Wade (Kara) Freeman, Robert Freeman of Nitro, W.Va., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren he loved very dearly, as well very special sister-in-law, Pam Dickey. Also surviving are mother Mildred Trede of North Carolina, a sister Ann of North Carolina, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Freeman Sr., of Lyons, Ga., brother Wayne Freeman of Lyons, Ga., sister Barbara Hogan of Fayetteville, N.C., and half-brother Richard of Florida.

Sam served with the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam and received two Purple Hearts.

Sam was a long-distance truck driver for many years and then he met a man name Jesus. His life never to be the same. He obtained his ministry license and pastored Open Arms Church in West Virginia.

He and his wife, with the help of sons, also operated a ministry, feeding, clothing, ministering, and even homes for 20 years in West Virginia until his health no longer permitted.

Sam loved Jesus more than anything in the world. During his illness he never complained was humble and a great peace and calm was around him, he had no doubt his new destination.

His wife and sons were his heart. He loved his family beyond measure. No words can say how much he will be missed.
