Robert W. Steuerwald

Robert W. Steuerwald, 73, of Brazil, passed away at his home on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020 following a battle with cancer.

Bob was born on Oct. 14, 1946, the son of Wayne Alfred and Bernice Irene (Taggart) Steuerwald.

He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School with the class of 1964, and then from Indiana State University with a double major in math and economics. He worked at Bemis in various positions, including sales, and was the manager of the graphic arts department, retiring in 2006 after 32 years of service.

Bob was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed reading and learning about archeology, geology, World War II history and genealogy. He loved taking long drives and listening to music. Bob also enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and across the United States, seeing 49 of the 50 states.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl (Morlan) Steuerwald, whom he married on June 29, 1974; his son, Brian Steuerwald (Alison Fisher), of Indianapolis; and a sister, Karen Sauer, of Georgia.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Croy’s Creek Cemetery.
