County Jail

Thirteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 9:57 p.m. Casey C. Storkman, 26, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for domestic battery, strangulation and disorderly conduct.

• At 3:31 a.m. Lynsey N. Roberts, 22, Indianapolis, was taken into custody for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 9:24 p.m. Bobby K. Coffey Jr., 46, Brazil, was housed at the jail for nonsupport of a dependent child.

• At 1:56 p.m. Mark A. Gordon II, 36, Athens, Ga., was booked in for auto theft.

• At 1:34 p.m. Morgan R. Negri, 30, Mooresville, was lodged at the jail for possession of a narcotic drug and two counts of theft.

• At 10:14 a.m. Chancy L. Anderson, 24, Lebanon, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

• At 1:12 a.m. Elisa J. Postell, 48, Spencer, was housed at the jail for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and driving while intoxicated.

Friday

• At 11:40 p.m. Sara J. Sutherlin, 32, Greencastle, was booked in for possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine.

• At 9:48 p.m. Aldous R. Maxey, 18, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail for driving while intoxicated and driving without ever receiving a license.

• At 8:57 p.m. Ryan S. Davis, 39, Cloverdale, was taken into custody for neglect of a dependent.

• At 5:33 p.m. Christopher L. Hamblin, 35, Greencastle, was housed at the jail fro driving a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.

• At 12:19 p.m. Austin K. Souders, 18, Greencastle, was booked in for probation violation.

• At 9:06 a.m. Corey A. Bunten, 32, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for resisting law enforcement and driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated one recent property-damage crash.

• At 5:18 p.m. Friday, Shelody M. Birkemeier, 29, Reelsville, was southbound on Manhattan Road in a 2014 Chevrolet Spark when a large white-colored dog ran in front of her and she could not avoid hitting it.

There was damage to the bumper area and headlight cover of the passenger side.

Upon Deputy Randy Patrick’s arrival, the animal was no longer present and it was not clear if the dog belonged to the owner of the nearest house.

Damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to six recent dispatches:

• At 11:56 a.m. on Friday, GFD received a call for a possible illegal burn at 111 Houck Rd. Units arrived at 12:06 p.m. but determined that it was a controlled burn. GFD left at 12:21 p.m.

• At 7:14 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 486 Glenview Dr. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:20 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 7:33 p.m.

• At 8:10 a.m. on Saturday, GFD was dispatched to 410 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 8:14 and found that the detector head was dirty. The head was cleaned, and GFD left at 8:21 a.m.

• At 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to an alarm for a structure fire at 701 Kirkwood Dr. Units arrived at the property at 10:49 and saw smoke was coming from a detached garage. GFD located the fire to a refrigerator and had it controlled by 11:02 a.m. GFD then performed salvage and overhaul. GFD went back into service at 11:43 a.m.

• At 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident without injuries. Units arrived on the scene at about the same time and removed fluids and debris from the roadway. GFD went back into service at 1:14 p.m.

• At 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 410 S. Indiana St. for a smoke alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:36 and determined the alarm was due to cooking. The alarm was then reset. GFD left at 1:41 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed six medical assists and had one disregard during this time.
