Barbara June Ames

Barbara June Ames, 67, of Cloverdale, passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 in Fort Wayne.

She was born on July 17, 1952 to Harrison and Inez Johnson in Peru, Ind. She was adopted shortly after by Lawrence and Mildred Ames.

Barbara was a 1971 graduate of New Market School.

Over her career, she worked at ICS in Indianapolis, worked as a CNA for Gephart Nursing Home, was a local Teamsters member and worked at Palestine Corp. in Crawfordsville.

She was a Girl Scout who grew up on a farm raising and showing cattle and was a 10-year 4-H member, in which she was very successful.

She loved fast cars, especially her Road Runner, and fishing. She was a very kind and generous woman. She had a special love for her pets from a childhood farm girl until life’s end, including her last two Poodles, Saboo and Anna Nicole.

Barbara was most noted for her infectious sense of humor, her red hair and freckles.

She is survived by her son, Tevin (Melissa) Ames of Ladoga; grandson, Alex Ames of Ladoga; brother, Vurlin Ames of New Market; niece, Kapri Ames of Avon; and four biological sisters, Carol (Rick) Wilson of Peru, Pat Gibson of Peru, Sue (Don) Keller of Wabash and Loretta “Rachie” Berry of Kokomo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mildred Ames; biological brothers, Golden Johnson and Dean Duttenhaver; and five biological sisters, Treva Cunningham, Marge Thompson, Frieda Cox, Rena Jenkins and Judy Montgomery.

A celebration of life will be held from 12-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 29 at Servies & Morgan Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington St., Ladoga, IN 47954.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big 4 Arch Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
