Serving strawberry shortcake to a pair of diners Thursday evening, Bainbridge Elementary School Principal Rodney Simpson gives his time to the inaugural Supper Club effort at Music on the Square. Co-sponsored by the United Way of Putnam County, Purdue Extension Putnam County and Bridges Restaurant, the Supper Club is a new effort aimed at combating food insecurity in Putnam County. Besides providing a $5 meal to adults with kids eating free, the meal is nutritious, locally-sourced and easily repeated in the home. Bridges provided the space and the food, as well as recipes cards to take home of the three-course meal that included butternut squash salad, Millers chicken and strawberry shortcake. Providing entertainment for the evening was Him & Her, while several North Putnam representatives, including most of the administrative team, helped with table service. The next Supper Club will take place in late March. For more information, call the United Way office at 653-5638.
