Ag Day Coming March 14

In a nod to the prominence of agriculture in the history, culture and economy of the community, the Putnam County Commissioners sign a proclamation recognizing Saturday, March 14 as Putnam County Ag Day. Joining commissioners (seated from left) David Berry, Rick Woodall and Don Walton are (standing) Heather Poynter, who chairs the Ag Day Committee, and fellow member Ken Carrington. The agriculture industry in Putnam County covers 197,619 of the county’s 307,453 acres, as well as contributing $111,617,000 annuall to the local economy. The annual Ag Day festivities will take place on March 14 at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building. The Ag Day Breakfast will run from 8-9 a.m., followed by a program by the Putnam County Beekeepers Association and the presentations to the winners of the Ag Day Photo Contest and Hall of Fame awards from 9-9:30 a.m. Mini Farm Fest will follow from 9:30 a.m.-noon.
