100+ Men celebrating fifth anniversary in 2020

Monday, March 2, 2020

In 2020, the 100+ Men Who Care will be celebrating their 5-year anniversary.

In January 2015, Scott Davis formed a 12-man team to help him pursue his dream of giving back to the community that had supported his furniture store for 35 years. While the vast majority of such chapters nationwide belong to women, the team created a tweaked version focusing on things that they hoped would appeal to men.

Over the course of 20 meetings across five years, the organization has given out $247,000 to 17 different organizations that have impacted all parts of Putnam county.

At the last meeting, the Putnam County Dollars for Scholars organizations were selecte — North Putnam Dollars for Scholars, Cloverdale Dollars for Scholars, Greencastle Alumni (soon to be Dollars for Scholars) and a startup Dollars for Scholars at South Putnam. This donation will impact students from throughout the county for many years to come.

Moreover, the 100+ Men have also built their endowment at the Putnam County Community Foundation to more than $87,000, which will provide more than $3,000 annually to the Community Grants committee at the foundation.

The organization is looking at 2020 as a huge year. Having ended 2019 with 126 members, there are 121 committed for 2020. They are looking for record-setting membership levels, which will mean a record amount in donations going only to Putnam County charities.

During the first 2020 meeting, set for later this month, the 100+ Men will top the quarter-million dollar mark in donations over its history.

As 2020 president, Vince Aguirre of Distinct Web Design has focused on improving communication with potential members, nonprofits and new members.
