Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated three recent property-damage crashes.

• At 5:27 p.m. on Saturday, Ryan M. Cary, 40, Fort Wayne, was westbound on County Road 200 North near County Road 675 East in a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.

Cary told Deputy Jeffery Freeman he was not paying attention and traveled near the edge of the road before overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to travel off the north side of the road and into the ditch.

After impact in the ditch, the vehicle traveled about 80 more yards before coming to rest on its side.

Cary had no complaints of injury. He told Freeman he was distracted, possibly fatigued, causing him to travel off the roadway.

The vehicle was towed. Freeman estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 10:23 a.m. on Friday, Nathan D. Knepp, 48, Montgomery, was traveling northwest around a 90-egree corner at County Road 1275 South and County Road 200 East in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Henry L. Lloyd, 41, Indianapolis, was traveling in the opposite direction in a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero.

Lloyd told Deputy Brian Helmer he was sliding so he could not avoid a collision. Both drivers agreed that Knepp was left of center at the time of the crash.

Helmer reported the road is gravel and Lloyd was driving a too fast for conditions and could not get stopped.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 8:10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, Kelsey L. Summerlot, 24, Roachdale, was northboound on U.S. 231 in a 2016 GMC Terrain when she hit a deer.

Deputy Daniel Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
