PCYDC postpones ticket sales for lip sync event

Ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic have moved the Putnam County Youth Development Commission to postpone ticket sales for its second-annual Lip Sync Team Challenge event.

Tickets were originally set to go on sale Monday, but have been postponed until at least Monday, April 6 or when a ban on social gatherings has been lifted.

At this time, the event remains scheduled for Saturday, May 9.

“In light of these very uncertain times, we, the Putnam County Youth Development Commission, wish to reassure our community members that we are keeping the safety of children and families in Putnam County as a top priority,” the PCYDC board statement read. “The PCYDC board remains concerned about the health and well-being of the community and will take every precaution to ensure a fun yet safe evening with regards to our upcoming second-annual Lip Sync Team Challenge event.”

At the time of the announcement, Indiana Gov. Eric HOlcombe had banned holding events with more than 250 people. The state-recommended number has since been reduced to 50, while on Monday, President Donald Trump recommended gatherings be limited to 10 people.

While the event itself has not yet been postponed, PCYDC plans to notify the public if things change.

“If we continue under the ban, we have additional dates reserved for the near future,” the statement said. “We will be sharing updates as decisions are made and announcements via e-mail, Banner Graphic, WREB and Facebook.”

Anyone with questions is advised to call the PCYDC office at 653-9342.
