• At 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Donald N. McRoberts, 24, Brazil, was westbound on U.S. 40 in a 1995 Ford F-250.

McRoberts told Deputy Daniel Birt he was focused on his GPS and unaware he was drifting off the road. The truck traveled through the ditch on the north side of the road and into a tree line, colliding with a tree in the middle of the bumper and grille.

He was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Brazil by Putnam County EMS.

The truck was towed. Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, Ronald D. Higgins, 69, Russellville, was northbound on County Road 550 West near County Road 125 South on the way to a fire scene in a 2002 Freightliner F80 fire truck registered to Russellville Fire Department.

Higgins attempted to yield to the side of the road for another fire truck when a soft shoulder gave way. The vehicle traveled into the ditch and came to rest against a tree.

The vehicle was pulled from the ditch by Curtis Towing.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 8:21 p.m. on Saturday, Angela M. Norman, 23, Russellville, was southbound on County Road 375 West in a 2006 Subaru Outback when she hit a deer.

• At 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nathaniel T. Mayer, 18, Brownsburg, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 2014 Mazda 3 when he hit a deer.

The impact tore the hood from the vehicle.

The car was towed. Deputy Birt estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 10:20 a.m. on Saturday, Christopher M. Mitchell II, 17, Reelsville, was northbound on County Road 500 West just north of the Big Four Arch Bridge in a 2012 Dodge pickup.

Mitchell told Deputy Kyle Lee he must have taken the corner a little fast and the passenger side front tire went into the ditch and he was unable to correct, ultimately colliding head-on with a tree.

Mitchell said he may have blacked out after the collision. Due to this and fearing possible unknown injuries, the medics strongly advised Mitchell’s mother to allow them to transport him to the hospital. However, the mother refused transport and signed a statement of release, saying she would take him to the hospital.

The vehicle was towed. Lee estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
