Work resuming this week on $5 million U.S. 231/U.S. 40 project

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a patching and resurfacing project will begin this week in Putnam and Clay counties.

The contractor will begin overnight patching work on U.S. 231 through Greencastle on Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 between the hours of 7:30 p.m. until 6 a.m., weather permitting.

The contractor will then begin resurfacing the area on U.S 40 from the east city limits of Brazil through Knightsville and Harmony.

The U.S. 40 work will begin on or after Monday, April 6 and will have one lane closed in each direction in the area they will be working.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by June 20.

Wabash Valley Asphalt Inc. was awarded the $5 million contract.
