City Police

Two weekend arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 10:12 p.m. Saturday, Brayden Watson, 22, Greencastle, was arrested at a West Walnut Street residence by Officer Angela Taylor.

Arrested on a Hamilton County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, Watson was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 7:27 p.m. Saturday, Austin Chadd, 26, Greencastle, was arrested at the Greencastle Walmart store by Capt. Charles Inman.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Chadd was arrested on a Putnam County warrant for theft of firearm and invasion of privacy.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to five recent dispatches:

• At 7:38 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to 511 N. Indiana St. for an unauthorized burn. Units arrived at 7:40 and advised the homeowner of the city burn ordinance. The fire was extinguished. GFD went back into service at 7:47 p.m.

• At 7:40 p.m. on Friday, GFD was dispatched to Alvord House for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:43 and were advised by DePauw Police that the alarm was already reset. Cooking was determined to be the cause of the alarm. GFD left at 7:45 p.m.

• At 12:43 a.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to 208 W. Columbia St. for an unauthorized burn. Units arrived at 12:48 to find the homeowner conducting a recreational burn. The homeowner was advised of the city burn ordinance, but was allowed to continue. GFD went back into service at 12:54 a.m.

• At 1:27 p.m. on Sunday, GFD was dispatched to Kissinger House for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 1:28 p.m. and were advised by DePauw Police that the alarm was already reset. Cooking was determined to be the cause of the alarm. GFD left at 1:33 p.m.

• At 4:13 a.m. on Monday, GFD received an alarm for a trash can fire at 246 Hillsdale Ave. Firefighters arrived at the location at 4:16 and found Greencastle Police officers had put out much of the fire with an extinguisher. GFD doused the debris to extinguish remaining hot spots. GFD went back into service at 4:23 p.m.

Additionally, GFD performed three medical assists during this time.
