The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced 12 upcoming bridge projects in Putnam and Montgomery counties.

The five Putnam County projects involved in the INDOT projects announced this week are:

U.S. 36 bridge over Big Walnut Creek, 5.64 miles east of U.S. 231.
U.S. 36 bridge over Monocah Creek, 3.19 miles west of State Road 75.
U.S. 36 bridge over Clear Creek, 2.03 miles west of State Road 75.
U.S. 231 bridge over Owl Creek, 0.73 miles south of U.S. S. 36.
U.S. 231 bridge over Ramp Creek, 2.75 miles north of U.S. 36.

Work begins this week with lane restrictions begin on the U.S. 136 bridge over Black Creek, 3.1 miles west of U.S. 231. Next week, the contractor plans to move to the U.S. 231 bridge over Black Creek, located just south of Montgomery CR 550 North, 2.35 miles north of Interstate 74.

Traffic will be flagged around construction. Daytime lane restrictions will be in place during the duration of construction as crews work to patch, mill and place polymeric overlays on the bridge decks at various locations.

The bridge project was awarded to HIS Contractors for $1.1 million. Work is scheduled to last through the end of October.

INDOT reminds motorists to follow the posted work zone speed limit, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a construction zone.
