Putnam County Courthouse

Putnam County property tax statements have been mailed, effective Tuesday, April 14.

Statements are not in the pink envelopes this year, due to an order error by the printer.

The spring property tax installment is due Monday, May 11*. The fall installment is due Tuesday, Nov. 10. Property taxes support local government, including our schools and essential services like law enforcement, public safety and infrastructure maintenance and improvements.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Treasurer’s Office is requesting citizens do NOT come to the Putnam County Courthouse to pay property taxes, unless it is absolutely necessary.

There are several other options for paying property taxes, including:

• Pay by mail: The envelope must be postmarked by the due date to be considered on time. Check or money order is accepted. Do not send cash.

• Pay by e-check: This is an electronic withdrawal from a bank account with a service fee of $1.50 and can be done online at https://enoticesonline.com/index.php/put.

The e-check option is also available by phone at 1-877-690-3729 using jurisdiction code 2442.

Those utilizing this option must have their duplicate number, bank routing number and bank account number.

• Pay by debit or credit card: This form of payment will incur a service fee of 2.5 percent of the total being paid or a $3.95 flat fee for Visa debit cards only. Go to https://enoticesonline.com/index.php/put or call 1-877-690-3729 and use jurisdiction code 2442.

Property owners must have their parcel or duplicate number and their debit/credit card information.

• Pay at local banks: The following banks are only open for drive-through access. Have the property tax coupon along with payment ready to be processed.

Banks accepting payments are First National Bank, First Financial Bank, North Salem State Bank, Old National Bank and Tri-County Bank.

• Pay at bropbox inside the Putnam County Courthouse: There is a dropbox inside the courthouse where citizens may place their payment. Put the statement and payment it in an envelope and do not include cash.

Anyone with questions may call the Putnam County Treasurer’s Office at 653-4510 or send an email to treasurer@putnamcountyin.us.

Treasurer Kathy Minnick and her staff will be happy to answer questions over the phone or by email.

Anyone who does not receiv their bill may request a duplicate by contacting the Treasurer’s Office by phone or email. Failure to receive a statement will not relieve you of paying taxes and/or penalties that may be due.

* Per Gov. Eric Holcomb’s executive order, payments will not be considered late if submitted by July 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The Federal Government hands you a stimulus check and the Local Government takes it away :)

  • I received my tax bill in the mail today and there was no mention of the 2 month extension. I understand not having all the tax bills re-printed to reflect the grace period, but there was also an insert saying they didn't want people coming to the courthouse to pay. But even that didn't mention the extension period. Accident or intentional? I wonder...
