The Dumpster Day, as part of Greencastle’s local Spring Clean Up effort that was scheduled for April 25, has been postponed until later this year.

Recent new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding handling of household goods during the pandemic has caused the city to postpone the event until later this year. The city is also honoring the Governor’s Executive Orders to stay at home and minimize travel.

The event sponsors are looking at other options to serve the public. Citizens are asked to store items until the collection time and date can be reset. For the benefit of our community and our environment, items should be disposed of properly.

Other Clean City, Earth Day and Arbor Day events and activities have also been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Residents are urged to participate in a small way by cleaning up around their own homes and businesses, picking up trash, and if possible, planting a tree on their property.

The city greatly appreciates the support of the Greencastle Civic League, Jack’s Trash and the many volunteers that supported the 2019 event. The event sponsors will continue to work toward a day in the fall to reschedule Dumpster Day for the benefit of the community.
