Virtual First Friday planned for May 1 event

Monday, April 27, 2020

Airing at 7 p.m. May 1, a Virtual First Friday video will premiere on the Main Street Greencastle Facebook page.

All day on Friday, the Main Street restaurants will be serving a special First Friday carry-out meal. Starting at noon a fundraiser will launch on Facebook to raise money for the cost of the Virtual First Friday effort.

The video will consist of the local duo Him & Her playing a pre-recorded set and short “commercials” where local businesses and nonprofits will highlight how they are dealing with the COVID-19 shutdown and resources that may available, also just saying thank you to the community and front-line workers.

The video should last 60 to 90 minutes and will be saved on the Main Street Facebook page to be replayed at any time.

Main Street will also be giving a copy of the video to the City of Greencastle to play on the local cable access channel (it remains uncertain if it will play at the same time or at a later date).

A few of the local businesses include May First Friday sponsor, Prime Real Estate, along with the new local boutique, Blushing Beaus, downtown restaurant Almost Home, Putnam County Hospital and a few more.

The restaurant carry-out specials will also be posted on the Main Street Facebook page as soon as the information is obtained from the restaurants, hopefully by Wednesday.
