Robert Bayard Allen

Robert Bayard Allen was born on March 27, 1963 in Greencastle to Bayard and Frances Allen.

Bob graduated from Greencastle High School in 1981. He received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business from the University of Chicago. Bob worked at Quaker Oats before starting his 28-year career at Eli Lilly.

Upon retirement, Bob moved back to Greencastle, where he was active at Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church. He also volunteered for the Putnam County Community Foundation, the Greencastle Rotary Club and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful.

Starting in the early 1990s, Bob, Frances and Bayard, along with friends, planted over 63,000 trees on the farm. He was killed in a tree trimming accident on April 27, 2020.

Bob was preceded in death by his brother Michael and his mother Frances.

Surviving family include his husband Enrique, father Bayard, sister Beth (John) and nieces Nicole (Steven) and Megan. He will be desperately missed by his family and many friends.

Due to current restrictions, no services are planned at this time.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Putnam County Community Foundation.
