Rea Jean Zeiner

Rea Jean Zeiner, 84, of Greencastle, passed away at her home in Greencastle on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

She was born May 27, 1935 in Fort Wayne to Roy C. and R. Lenore (Ruark) Sutherlin.

Rea married John R Zeiner on Aug. 21, 1955. He survives.

Rea was a graduate of Greencastle High School and Indiana Business College. She was one of the early employees at IBM when it opened in Greencastle. She later became the legal secretary for her father and later for her husband and father in Sutherlin, Zeiner and Barclay law firm, where she worked more than 40 years.

Rea was a member of First Christian Church of Greencastle, as well as a member of Delta Theta Tau and P.E.O.

One of Rea’s joys was sponsoring the Putnam County Museum’s replica of the Round Barn originally on the family farm.

She is survived by four children, Gary (Kaili) Zeiner of Greencastle, Sandra (John) Ditmars of Franklin, Sherri (Woody) Holm of Fishers and David Zeiner of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Brent (Allison) Ditmars, Jami (Eric) Howland, Austin Zeiner, Mitch Holm and Ashley (Alex) Mast; five great-grandchildren, Hadley and Hannah Ditmars, Miles and Logan Howland and Theo Mast; siblings Nancy (Bill) Fellers, Stephen (Kay) Sutherlin, Becky (John) Trott and Sally Harkness; brother-in-law Joe (Helen) Zeiner, sister-in-law Joy Jane Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Max Evans.

The family will have a private inurnment at Fillmore Cemetery. The celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
