The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department lost a beloved part of its family Wednesday evening.

K9 officer Bo, partner of Maj. Dwight Simmons, was put to rest

“Our hearts are broken tonight,” A PCSD Facebook post said. “Earlier today Putnam County deputies, local law enforcement and firefighters said their final goodbyes to our beloved K9 Bo.

“Bo suffered some recent serious medical conditions, from which he can not recover.”

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Bo was escorted one last time to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department so deputies and other department personnel could say their goodbyes.

Bo was then given a full police and fire escort from the department to his home, where he was put to rest.

“We ask that everyone keep K9 Bo, his handler Maj. Dwight Simmons and his family in your thoughts and prayers,” PCSD said.
