Greencastle Township Trustee accepting school board applications
The Greencastle Township Trustee and Advisory Board are seeking candidates for the Greencastle School Board of Trustees.
The position is a four-year term, set to commence on July 1 and run through June 30, 2024.
The seat is currently filled by Bill Tobin, who is eligible to re-apply.
Interested applicants can pick up a copy of an application and guidelines from Trustee Steve Butts by calling 653-5918.
The trustee’s office is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Butts will mail applications to interested parties. Completed applications should also be returned by mail to the Trustee’s Office at 620 Tennessee St. by May 18.
With their application, interested individuals should include a cover letter accompanied by two letters of recommendation.
Once applications are submitted, Butts and his three-member advisory board of Karen Ambler, Marilyn Clearwaters and Russ Evans will conduct an executive session to narrow the field to three. After that, the three candidates will be interviewed in an open meeting.
Both meeting dates and times will be announced at a later date.
This school board seat is one of two appointed by the Greencastle Township Trustee. Mike White is currently serving in the other Greencastle Township seat in a term set to expire on June 30, 2023.
The other three Greencastle School Board seats are appointed by the Greencastle City Council and Madison Township Trustee.
City appointee Brian Cox’s term is also up next month, with fellow Russell Harvey’s city-appointed term set to run through June 3, 2022.
Madison Township appointee Dale Pierce’s term will expire on June 30, 2021.
