FREE ACCESS: Greencastle Youth Baseball sets refund schedule

Monday, May 11, 2020

The Greencastle Youth Baseball League has canceled its 2020 season due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

League president Joe Downing announced the closure on the organization's Facebook page on Friday.

An additional entry on Monday indicated how parents can get refunds for the 2020 season:

"We looked into every avenue to make this season happen. Unfortunately we kept hitting a dead end. In regards to a refund for the season, we will be able to give every player $40 plus uniform and hat. If you’d like to donate your refund back to the league, let us know. It would be put to great use as we continue to have utilities, lease, insurance and maintenance fees even if we aren’t playing this season. The League works hard every year to make improvements to the fields for the youth.

"Members of the Board will be at the concession stand on Tuesday, May 19, from 5:30-7:00 and on Sat., May 23 from 10:00-12:00 for you to stop by to receive your refund, uniform and hat. These will be the only two options to receive your refund, uniform and hat. If you don’t show up or contact the league, we will consider your refund a donation to the league. A parent listed on the registration application will have to be the one who picks up the refund. Coaches, please return your coach bag at one of these times.

"Please be understanding of the league's decisions during this time. Obviously none of us have dealt with something like this before.

Anyone with questions is asked to email the league at greencastleyouthbaseball@gmail.com.
