Barbara P. Bowen

Barbara P. Bowen, 92, Greencastle, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020.

Born Oct. 1, 1927 in Putnam County, she was the daughter of Emmett and Helen (Evens) Hurst and was a graduate of Greencastle High School.

She married Robert A. Bowen on April 4, 1947. They enjoyed 61 years together.

Barbara and her husband Bob owned and operated Kendallville Tire & Auto in Kendallville until their retirement. She had previously worked as a teller at Central National Bank for several years.

She was a member of the Fillmore United Methodist Church and the UMW.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bill) Hamm and Teresa Pratt; grandchildren Nathan Hamm, Emily (Zac) Sittering and Patrick (Sam) Atkins; and great-grandchildren Ethan Hamm, Eli Hamm, Hudson Sittering, Jocelyn Sittering, Zoe Atkins, Dante Atkins, Sephiroth Atkins, Leon Atkins and Vash Atkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bowen; parents; and a grandson, Theodore David “Ted” Atkins.

Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 14 at the Fillmore Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Bryan Palmer-Smith officiating.

Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
