Norma Jean Barger

Norma Jean Barger, age 87, of Greencastle, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2020.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1932 to the late Sam and Irene Strait.

Norma married Hiram Barger in 1948 and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2017.

Norma was retired, having worked for the Banner Graphic and as a cook for DePauw University and the Fairway Restaurant.

She is survived by her six sons, Harold Barger (wife Lois) of Greencastle, Lonny Barger (wife Cathy) of Greencastle, Larry Barger (wife Kathy) of Brazil, Hiram Barger Jr. (wife Cindy) of Greencastle, Kenneth L. Barger of Greencastle and Wendell Barger (wife Sandra) of Coal City; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be private due to coronavirus restrictions. The funeral will be broadcast live on the Whitaker Funeral Home Facebook page at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
