Area 30 presents 2020 scholarship recipients

Staff and faculty recently announced the winners of 19 scholarships awarded to graduating seniors who have learned a trade at the Area 30 Career Center.

The scholarships are based on academic performance, Area 30 activities, awards, accomplishments and teachers’ recommendations. They can be used for post-secondary education, the workforce or military. This money may cover college tuition, equipment for employment and other expenses.

The 2020 scholarship recipients are as follows:

• Ephraim Hale -- $2500, WIRED, Greencastle High School

• Malerie Minor -- $2000, health careers, South Putnam High School

• Michael White -- $1750, LOGIC, Greencastle High School

• Emily Stierwalt -- $1200, EMT, Eminence High School

• Kacey Shedron -- $1200, teacher education, Cloverdale High School

• Madison Rodgers -- $1200, nursing, Greencastle High School

• Henry Carter -- $1200, culinary arts, Greencastle High School

• Jacob Overstreet -- $1000, auto collision, Greencastle High School

• Daniel Kenworthy -- $750, WIRED, South Putnam High School

• Abigail Kimes -- $750, computer systems networking, North Putnam High School

• Emily Crowder -- $500, health careers, Greencastle High School

• Aaron Fritz -- $500, computer systems networking, North Putnam High School

• Sara Goddard -- $500, culinary arts, North Putnam High School

• Alyssa Harris -- $500, teacher education, Greencastle High School

• Joshua Nally -- $500, computer systems networking, Greencastle High School

• Jennifer Scott -- $500, graphic design and layout, Greencastle High School

• Logan York -- $500, auto collision, Greencastle High School

• Thomas Brickert -- $500, ICE, South Putnam High School

• Aiden O’Brien -- $500, law enforcement, Greencastle High School

The scholarship account is funded by local donors, Area 30 staff, the annual golf outing and profits from the student canteen. Two culinary arts scholarships were awarded through a fund established by the family of Morgan Johnson in his honor.
