More Than a Camera Moment

Tuesday, May 19, 2020
Unable to celebrate North Putnam High School’s class of 2020 with a traditional ceremony, administrators got creative to let them at least walk across the stage and get their diploma last week. The camera is on Adam Bonebrake as he addresses his peers toward the beginning of the day’s revelry. A finished recording of the ceremony will be shown during a drive-in event to be held Saturday evening.

As the top four students (from left), Kyle Young, Bonebrake, salutatorian Josie Lyons and valedictorian Olivia Haste turn their tassels as Superintendent Nicole Singer pronounces the class as graduates.
As he receives his diploma cover, Young in turn gives Principal Jason Chew a pack of Big League Chew bubble gum as part of a class-wide gag.
Later, Patience Crowell laughs as she is sprayed with Silly String after capturing one element of the footage.
Before leaving the building, Niah Goff joins her classmates in signing her name on one of a series of letters that spells out “Cougar Country.” It is a tradition for each graduating class to leave their mark this way.
