Afternoon Crash

A motor vehicle crash limited U.S. 40 to one-lane traffic about a mile east of U.S. 231 for a time Tuesday afternoon. Putnam County Sheriff’s Department officials did not give specific details, though it appeared a pickup truck rear-ended an INDOT dump truck. The road area was cleared up and the road reopened to normal traffic by shortly before 1:30 p.m. However, PCSD warned drivers that another crash had occurred on Manhattan Road and were advising to avoid that area. Intermittent rain in the area has caused slick roads and limited visibility at times.
