Dr. Ronald ‘Doc’ C. Chaplain

Dr. Ronald “Doc” C. Chaplain, 86, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday morning, May 24, 2020 in Waveland.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1933 in Rockville to the late Leo and Maude (Owen) Chaplain.

Doc graduated from Bloomingdale High School and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Army. Once returning home, he attended Kansas State where he studied and became a veterinarian.

He had his own veterinarian practice for 26 years until retiring and working for the State Health Department for 10 years.

He married the love of his life, Norma (Hoffman) Chaplain, and enjoyed many happy years together with her until she passed in 2013.

Doc enjoyed fishing at his cabin on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, flying his airplane, entertaining his friends and his beloved dog, Casey.

He is survived by his children Rhonda (Stanley E.) McBride, Vickie (Ronald W.) Carr and Russell (Jami) Chaplain; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Lou Deplanty and Jerry Chaplain; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Robert Chaplain.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at Russellville Cemetery, 12001 N. CR 650 West, Russellville, IN 46175, with Pastor Kathy Elliott officiating.
