Shred event removes paper, cardboard from community

Thursday, June 18, 2020

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Putnam County Board of Realtors, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our Community Shred Event on Saturday, June 13. The event was sponsored by Abstract and Title, enabling us to provide this secure shredding service free to the community.

According to Data Management, we shredded 28 – 96-gallon bins of paper, all of which will be recycled, along with three truckloads of cardboard that were taken locally for recycling after the event.

Many participants chose to make a donation to the Putnam County Board of Realtors Scholarship fund, which allows us to grow our endowment with the Putnam County Community Foundation. Through our endowment we recently awarded $3,000 in Scholarships to local high school seniors.

Thank you to everyone that participated and to those members that volunteered – Gina Carter, Tyler Cox, Traci Dobson, Liz Fiscus, My Gilley, Jason Hartman, Elizabeth Kienzynski, Mark Lewis, Mary Looper, Sue McCune, Rolynn Ramirez, Suzy Schneider, George Schneider, Chris Skillern and Sandy Thurman.

We would also like to thank the Putnam County 4-H Fair Board for allowing us to set up on the fairgrounds drive, giving us plenty of room to keep everyone safe.
