County Jail

Seven people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Thursday

• At 4:08 a.m. Chance B. Evens, 20, Greencastle, was booked in for identity deception.

• At 2:55 a.m. Emily Rose Froedge, 28, Poland, was lodged at the jail for possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia with a prior conviction.

Wednesday

• At 11:35 p.m. Kyla M. Adkins, 22, Greencastle, was taken into custody for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of marijuana.

• At 4: 31 p.m. Scott T. Lyons, 25, New Palestine, was housed at the jail for driving with a Schedule I or II substance in the body.

Tuesday

• At 11:50 p.m. Lacie D. Zeller, 40, Roachdale, was booked in for criminal trespass.

• At 4:27 p.m. Lennon A. Bishop, 37, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail for possession of marijuana.

• At 11:18 a.m. Richard J. Guercio, 36, Greencastle, was taken into custody for identity deception and fraud on a financial institution.

State Police

A Greencastle man was arrested on drug and DUI charges Monday night after he was stopped in a construction zone.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Trooper Austin Fowler of the Putnamville Indiana State Police Post stopped a 2018 Subaru for unsafe lane movement and almost striking several construction barriers near the 37-mile marker on Interstate 70.

The driver was identified as Louis E. Collins, 64, of Greencastle. Suspicious activity was detected and a search of the vehicle was conducted.

Troopers located marijuana, drug paraphernalia and several opened alcoholic beverage containers within the vehicle.

Further investigation by Trooper Fowler revealed that Collins displayed signs of impairment and failed the field sobriety test Collins agreed to submit to a certified chemical test and had a BAC .12 percent.

Collins was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. During a search at the jail, it was discovered that Collins was in possession of schedule IV narcotics without a valid prescription. Collins was being held without bond as of Tuesday morning.

He was preliminarily charged with Class A misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, Class C misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Class A misdemeanor possession of a Schedule IV drug, Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana and Class A misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, James E. Beasley, 57, Putnamville, was northbound on Meridian Line Road north of County Road 900 South in a 2018 Kenworth dump truck registered to the Putnam County Highway Department.

Workers were repairing the road in the area and as Beasley drove northbound, the dump bed raised and caught a power line across the road, breaking a pole owned by Duke Energy.

Deputy Kyle Lee estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, Lindsey Tomaw, 32, Greencastle, was eastbound on County Road 1000 South in a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu when she hit a deer.

Deputy Nathan Trissel estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, Melissa B. Nicosin, 33, Reelsville, eastbound on U.S. 40 in a 2016 Kia Sorrento when she hit a deer.

Deputy Josh Deal estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
