ROACHDALE -- Firefighters from the northern end of the county responded to a box alarm for a house fire that ended up a total loss.

According to a statement provided by Fire Chief Mike Poole, the Roachdale Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 10:34 p.m. to the blaze located at 1539 W. State Road 236, one mile east of U.S. 231. They arrived at the scene within five minutes, but the house was fully involved.

Roachdale was assisted by the Russellville Volunteer Fire Department and the Bainbridge Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the Ladoga Volunteer Fire Department in Montgomery County and the North Salem Fire Department in Hendricks County. Putnam County EMS, PMH Ambulance and the Roachdale Police Department were also at the scene.

While he said the fire was quickly extinguished, Poole said the house and its contents were a total loss. However, no one was inside at the time.

The house was listed to Terry Dean of Roachdale.

Poole stated that it is believed the fire started in the garage, but no definite cause has been determined as of Monday morning.
