Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated two recent property-damage crashes.

• At 12:02 a.m. on Sunday, Taylor P. Webster, 23, Greencastle, was traveling southwest on Heritage Drive in a 2018 Honda Accord when her tire deflated rapidly, causing the vehicle to pull to the left.

Webster told Deputy Jeffery Freeman she was unable to control the vehicle and it traveled into the yard of 267 Lincoln Hills, hitting a mailbox and yard decorations.

The vehicle was towed. Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 15, Kadric J. Tippin, 18, Greencastle, was traveling on County Road 625 West in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria.

Tippin told Deputy Daniel Birt he came into a curve with too much speed and hit a patch of loose gravel, causing him to lose control.

The car slid off the road and hit a malbox at 8908 S. CR 625 West, Reelsville. The vehicle slid across the top of an earthen embankment and over a culvert and into the ditch.

When asked how fast he was going, Tippin told Birt 45 mph. Birt said based on his observations, Tippin was traveling much faster than 45 mph.

Tippin said the vehicle was not plated due to COVID delays and improper documentation on the title. He did not have proof of insurance and was cited.

The father of an occupant towed the vehicle from the ditch.

Birt estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.
