First live BCB concert to have patriotic theme

The Brazil Concert Band, directed by Matthew Huber, will be back live and in person this Sunday, July 5 at 8 p.m. at Forest Park. In case of rain, the concert will take place in the pavilion.

“Back Home Again: A Patriotic Salute” will feature all the Independence Day favorites to wrap up the Brazil Rotary’s annual celebration.

The band will perform “The Fourth of July” by John Cacavas, which includes “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “Columbia, The Gem of the Ocean,” “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” with excerpts of other all-time American classics.

Veterans will be recognized in “Armed Forces Salute,” arranged by Bob Lowden, with “The Caisson Song,” “Semper Paratus,” “The Marines’ Hymn,” “The U.S. Air Force” and “Anchors Aweigh.”

The Brazil Concert Band will also present “America” arranged by Cacavas and “America the Beautiful” arranged by Carmen Dragon.

March favorites will feature “National Emblem March” by E.E. Bagley, “American Patrol” by F.W. Meacham, “E Pluribus Unum” by Fred Jewell, “Americans We” by Henry Fillmore and both “Semper Fidelis” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.

The program will conclude with “The Star-Spangled Banner” arranged by Sousa.

The Brazil Concert Band will perform every Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at Forest Park throughout July and August. Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Forest Park.
