William Harold Reeves

William Harold Reeves, 84, of Greencastle, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

William was born in Parke County on March 9, 1936, the son of Harry J. and Reba F. (Ewing) Reeves, and was a graduate of Van Buren High School. He attended Purdue University.

He proudly served in the United States Army for over 20 years. William was a first sergeant and spent two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea. He worked for 17 years as a personnel officer with the Indiana Department of Correction.

Mr. Reeves was a member of Lena United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bessie Reeves of Greencastle; five children, William Reeves (wife Leaanne) of Brazil, Barbara Cain (husband Daniel) of Big Bend, W. Va, Michael Reeves (wife Ronda) of Coatesville, Jim Reeves (wife Patty) of Clay City and Karen Schrader (husband Jonathan) of Brazil; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Reeves (wife Jane) of Parke County; a sister, Karolyn Trusty of Stilesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a sister, Erma Hill.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 10 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Schrader officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
