Taken into custody at Northview Apartments on North Arlington Street, Horsley was arrested on a criminal trespass charge. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

Meanwhile, as that arrest was transpiring, police saw Coagan Stewart, 27, Brazil, drive away from Northview Apartments.

She was stopped at 11:40 p.m. on North Arlington Street by Capt. Charles Inman.

Stewart was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

One minor accident was reported Wednesday afternoon by city officers.

• At 1:25 p.m. a two-vehicle accident was reported on Indianapolis Road/Washington Street at the south entrance to Dairy Castle.

Vicky Phillips, 54, Cloverdale, was eastbound, driving a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, attempting to turn left into Dairy Castle.

Stopped in front of her was Norman Rogers, 76, Greencastle, who also decided he wanted to visit Dairy Castle and reportedly put his 2002 Ford F-150 truck in reverse. When Rogers started backing up, his truck struck the Phillips vehicle.

Total damage was estimated at $1,000-$2,500 by Chief Tom Sutherlin.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated six recent property-damage crashes.

• At 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Todd R. Cavender, 48, Jamestown, was westbound on U.S. 36 east of 490 West in a 2004 Freightliner XC when he hit a deer.

Deputy Brian Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Paul M. Cohen Jr., 53, Chicago, was southbound on County Road 150 West in a 2014 Freightliner FL106 tractor-trailer.

Cohen told Deputy Josh Deal his GPS told him he needed to drive south when he actually needed to go north. Once he realized the problem, Cohen said he pulled off into a parking lot to attempt a safe three-point turn.

As he started backing up, he felt the tractor-trailer stop. He got out and realized he had backed into the pole, breaking it just below the telephone lines.

There was no damage to the trailer.

Deal, who was assisted by Deputy Scott Ducker, estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 3:22 a.m. on Tuesday, Braydon C. Porter, 26, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 800 West in a 2013 Toyota Camry when he hit a deer.

The deer hit the driver’s side fender then went up into the windshield, nearly breaking it. The animal then flipped onto the roof, damaging the roof, C-pillar and trunk of the vehicle.

Porter told Helmer he lives on the road and would attempt to get the vehicle home.

Helmer estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Sara M. Carter, 18, Danville, was traveling on County Road 800 North in a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu when she hit a deer.

Deputy Nathan Trissel estimated damage at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 9:50 a.m. on Monday, Robert A. Lash, 57, Lapel, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 800 West in a 2016 Peterbilt 567 registered to Grand Industrial of Logansport. Rashelle Daugherty, 37, Brazil, was also westbound in a 2005 Ford F-150.

Lash told Deputy Josh Deal that since he was carrying a wide load, he began his signal to turn north on 800 west about a half mile before he got there. As he got closer to the road, he positioned his tractor-trailer in both westbound lanes in order to make the turn. He said that was when Daugherty tried to drive around him in the right lane and the two vehicles collided.

Daugherty said she had been following the tractor-trailer for a while when she noticed there was room to pass him in the right lane. It was only after she had started the pass that she noticed Lash turning northbound.

The semi tractor was damaged but could be driven from the scene. The pickup truck had to be towed.

Daugherty suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment from an ambulance at the scene.

She was also cited for driving without financial responsibility.

Deal, assisted at the scene by Deputy Scott Ducker, estimated damage at $10,000-$25,000.

• At 5:08 p.m. Sunday, Daniel H. Burns, 40, Crawfordsville, was southbound on Houck Road (County Road 25 East) approaching the bridge over Big Walnut Creek in a 2016 Infiniti QX6.

Burns told Deputy Trissel that as he came around the corner approaching the bridge, a red, full-sized truck would not get over, so he steered to the right and into the guardrail approaching the bridge.

The vehicle was towed. Trissel estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.
